Toninho Horta

“Toninho is like the Herbie Hancock of Brazil.” – Pat Metheny

The virtuoso electric and nylon string guitarist from Minas Gerais, Brazil has written numerous Brazilian standards. Pat Metheny has been influenced by Horta and called him “the Herbie Hancock of Bossa Nova guitarists”. Toninho has played, recorded and arranged for the biggest names in Brazilian music: Milton Nascimento, Ellis Regina, Gal Costa, Sergio Mendes and many others. Long known for his rich melodies and beautiful harmonies, Horta has crafted a gem recording. His spectacular tribute to Antonio Carlos Jobim is a true event recording, never before released in North America. It is considered by many to be Toninho’s finest recording, and the best of the Jobim tribute records – an absolute must for any fan of Brazilian music and a real sonic delight! Guests include Gal Costa, Bob Mintzer and Dave Kikoski.
